Kerry Lawrence
Kerry Lawrence is a vitreous enameller – a craft she brings to life on larger silver forms.
Her work includes vibrant, functional artworks like enamelled cups, beakers, spirit measures and perfume atomisers as well as containers in a range of sizes.
The majority of Kerry’s pieces are one-offs. She approaches the enamelling design aspect of a piece as a small artwork on a canvas of silver. Kerry mainly uses the traditional techniques of basse-taille, champlevé and cloisonné in her work, and frequently blends techniques and transparent and opaque enamels in the same piece to create the colour palette and overall effect she is seeking. Inspired by artists such as David Hockney, famous for his masterful use of often vibrant colours, her enamel design tends towards the modern and bold, both in terms of the mark-making style of her underlying engraving and the choice of colour palette.
