5th May 2022 - DMDA Opportunity
GUEST SPEAKERS
Dr Cordula Van Wyhe (senior lecturer) from the History of Art Department at the University of York
A note from Cordula:
We are looking for an enameller, who may be interested in participating in our research project on historic dress accessories. Last November, the History of Art Department at the University of York launched a first pilot version of the Digital Museum of Dress Accessories: Body-Fashion-Health-Technology (DMDA) which you can find here:
http://dmda.york.ac.uk/
Dress accessories in museums and specifically the DMDA Handling Collection of objects from the 18thC to the 20thC are made from a wide range of materials including different enamelling techniques. We are interested in collaborating with practitioners and artisans for a deeper and nuanced understanding of these many different materials and to forge an interdisciplinary dialogue that radically opens humanities' object-study to professional practice and science.
In the first instance, we are looking at research workshops to take place some point later this year and for which all expenses would be paid.
