North Wales
Beca Fflur is heavily inspired by North Wales, where she spent most of her life, exploring the mountains, coasts, and old industrial paths. These landscapes are central to her creative process and identity as a maker. Beca aims to reflect the textures, colours, and stories of the land through the materials and techniques used.
Each piece begins with a drawing and a watercolour painting, allowing her to explore colour, pattern, and mood before translating those ideas through vitreous opaque and transparent enamel and hand engraving to enrich the surface. The use of Welsh slate is a key part of this approach, locally sourced and full of geological and cultural meaning, being used both in its physical form and the colours used in enamel.
Beca is currently in her second year at Bishopsland Educational Trust this year, and was awarded four prizes at the 2025 Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council Awards.
