Enamel, the process of fusing glass to metal, is the
means of using a rich and diverse medium to convey a personal response
to ideas and visual experiences.
My childhood was spent in a North Atlantic Irish landscape
of ancient rocks, wild seas, and huge skies. Now that I live in
central London, my work is about trying to make sense of these experiences.
It deals with the patina of time the fragments revealed by
the continual influence of the elements on surfaces and textures.
The varied colours of the glass used with textures
and foils can produce a wonderfully tactile surface which is unlike
any other material. Although enamel has an inbuilt fragility, it
is for me the perfect means of creating a lasting image.
Work can be purchased at Studio Fusion, OXO Tower,
Southbank, London, and Goldsmith Fair, London.
