Enamel, the process of fusing glass to metal, is the means of using a rich and diverse medium to convey a personal response to ideas and visual experiences.

My childhood was spent in a North Atlantic Irish landscape of ancient rocks, wild seas, and huge skies. Now that I live in central London, my work is about trying to make sense of these experiences. It deals with the patina of time – the fragments revealed by the continual influence of the elements on surfaces and textures.

The varied colours of the glass used with textures and foils can produce a wonderfully tactile surface which is unlike any other material. Although enamel has an inbuilt fragility, it is for me the perfect means of creating a lasting image.

Work can be purchased at Studio Fusion, OXO Tower, Southbank, London, and Goldsmith’ Fair, London.
