An architect by training, Janine Greenberg moved from
South Africa to London five years ago. Prior to this time she had
been painting and making mixed media jewellery for many years, but
had always wanted to study enamelling. With a passion for colour,
she enrolled on the diploma course at London Guildhall University
and graduated last July, having been particularly encouraged by
Joan MacKarell to explore her own style.
Janine writes: I am psychic artist and am currently
embarking on a long project which incorporates my spiritual beliefs
through work with painting, crystals, and jewellery making.
She has designed a series of 31 cards, each which bears an image
of a angel on one side and an explanation of the angels message
on the other. Users of the cards will draw one each morning and
be motivated and guided by the message during the day. By the time
the cards are published, Janine will have made enamelled pieces
of jewellery based on the forms of the angels and incorporating
their associated crystals. She sees this as a basis for starting
a business but also cares deeply that her work and ideas will communicate
with people. She wants her work with colours and totems to be tools
of inspiration and power.
The Butterfly Necklace commemorates the changes in
Janine Greenbergs life after she moved to London. It expresses
metamorphosis and coming out. For Janine, making her work has to
be fun. She likes to play.
